Monday 24th February 18.30 - 20.45

If you’ve always wanted to learn to sew, this class is for you. By the end of the lesson, you will be confidently threading a sewing machine and finishing up a tote bag or an envelope cushion to show off with pride. This class will set you up to continue your sewing adventure at home or tackle one of our dressmaking classes. Let the fun begin!

  • This course is great for beginners who have never used a sewing machine before.

  • In this workshop, you’ll learn:

    • How to thread a sewing machine

    • How to wind a bobbin

    • How to sew a hem and finish seams neatly

    • How to use a simple pattern

    • How to apply basic sewing skills to make a tote bag or an envelope cushion

  • You will need 1 meter of fabric for your first cushion/tote bag. A medium weight woven fabric, like cotton poplin, linen, African wax print cotton or light weight denim is ideal. These projects will not work in stretch fabrics.

You can bring your own or buy fabric from our studio. Feel free to get in touch before the class to discuss fabric choices.

In addition to essential tools, we will provide one cushion insert.

If you would like to practice sewing on your own machine please feel free to bring it along.
