Terms and Conditions

Booking a session automatically means that you agree to our terms and conditions.  It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with them before purchasing a session from us. We reserve the right to amend and change these terms without notifying you.

Bookings
Full payment must be received in order to secure your place on all sessions. 


After school classes for children are booked termly unless otherwise agreed.

Bookings for under 16 year olds must have a signed enrolment form (online) with them when they arrive if their adult is not taking part in the session.

Under 16 year olds will only be able to leave on their own if the correct part of the enrolment form is signed.

Block bookings can be booked half way though the term – they will be charged pro-rata.

The price of a drop in session will be deducted if you or your child sign up for the term after trying out a session using the Drop In facility.

Sewcials can be booked in blocks of 6 sessions, you will have 8 weeks to use these within, from the date of of the first session you attend. You must let us know the dates and times you would like to attend in advance. Bookings must be made at least 2 hours before the course start time, to guarantee that the course will be running.  We cannot guarantee there will always be a space on the day, we advise booking as early as possible onto the sessions you would like to attend.

Renewals:


Toward the end of term renewal forms will be sent out. You will have priority over your session and your space will automatically be reserved until full payment is received. If the payment is not received by the end of the priority booking date then the place will be offered out again.



If you want to swap to a different session then please let us know as soon as possible and we will endeavour to accommodate you or your child, subject to availability.

If it is not possible to pay for a session in full at the time of booking please speak to us and we will do our best to offer a payment plan.

Make Mee Studio CIC is committed to being accessible to all backgrounds.
 
Missed Sessions


Please try to let us know in advance if you or your child will not be able to make a booked session.


We will do our best to reschedule 1 catch up per term.  All catch up sessions are subject to availability and at our discretion and we recommend they are booked as soon as possible.  Missed sessions cannot be carried over to the following term. Make up sessions must be arranged in advance. If a make up session is missed then it cannot longer be re booked, credited or refunded.

Courses: most of these workshops can be caught up during one of our Sew Your Own Way or Sewcial sessions.  Should you have to miss your booked session and you have let us know in advance then we will offer a Sew Your Own Wayor Sewcial as an alternative, space provided.

Block Bookings:  If you or your child misses a session we will do our best to offer you an alternative date within that term to catch up, if there is space. Only 1 missed sessions per half term can be caught up.


Drop Ins: If you or your child miss a drop in session a refund will not be given.


Cancellations & Refunds


Booked sessions will be refunded in full if cancelled 7 days before the workshop. If it is less than 7 days a full refund will be given provided we can fill the place booked. If it cannot be filled then we will work with you to try and swap your session to another day at our discretion.



If a session is cancelled on the day of the course we do not guarantee that we will offer a credit. If the cancellation is due to illness then we require a doctor's note to give out a workshop credit.


Rescheduling


We ask for 7 days notice to reschudule a class.  If we can find someone to take your space then we may allow less notice but this will be done on a case by case basis.

Returned Payments


A £5 admin cost will be charged if a cheque is returned unpaid to us. Full payment will be needed before you or your child can attend a session.


 
Exclusions


Safety of everyone at Make Mee Studio is paramount to us and therefore we reserve the right to exclude any person from any session if we consider that:


they have breached these Terms and Conditions.
their behaviour is disruptive or likely to put other users of the studio (including teachers) in danger.
your attitude and behaviour towards any person on the property is inappropriate, disruptive or consistently negligent – including late collection of your child – or is likely to bring us, the business or our products and service into disrepute.

If you or your child are excluded no refund will be offered and outstanding payments will be sort after.
 
Liabilities


Our policy is never to cancel a session regardless the number of participants. However should an event arise beyond our control that meant cancelling a session is the only safe and viable option than a full refund will be given.



Health and Injuries


i) You acknowledge that sessions will often include the use of needles, pins, scissors, sewing machines, irons and other sharp objects.
ii) All new students will receive Health and Safety guidelines. We cannot accept liability if you or your child are injured when in breach of these
iii) We accept you or your child on the assumption of good health. It is you responsibility to alert us to any medical conditions, complaint, behavioural needs or relevant history
iv) We do not accept responsibility for any loss or damages arising from omissions on the enrolment form whether completed by you or your appointee
v) We do not accept any responsibility for any personal injury or death to anyone attending any activity save to the extent that such an injury shall be caused by the negligence or default of any member of our staff or any default on our part
vi) We expect all our student to leave our facilities as they found them.

Personal property


Make Mee Studio do not accept any liability for lost or damaged personal items. Possessions will be placed away from the working area and not used during sessions. If you or your child bring their own sewing machine then we will make every effort to keep it safe.


 
Other Losses


We do not accept responsibility for any loss or expense due to circumstances beyond our control including but not limited to delays in public transport, weather, sickness, bereavement, strikes, industrial action, terrorism fire and riot.


Third parties


Any person who is not party to these terms and conditions or any document or agreement incorporating these terms and conditions shall have no right under the contract to enforce any of its terms. Right of third parties act 1999.



Privacy Policy


Make Mee Studio takes the privacy and security of your data very seriously.


This privacy policy sets out how Make Mee Studio processes personal data (that is, information by which an individual can be identified) collected by us in the course of our lawful activities, and explains our obligations and your rights under the Data Protection Act 1998 and any subsequent UK legislation and regulations (‘Data Protections laws’). This policy has been put in place to protect your rights under the Data Protection laws, and it is important that you understand what we will do with your data and are happy with this.


References to the processing of information includes the collection, use, storage and protection of data.
Make Mee Studio is the ‘data controller’ for the purposes of this policy, and the policy extends to its staff, trustees, volunteers and anyone else processing data on our behalf from time to time.


Make Mee Studio is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Any personal data collected by Make Mee Studio will only be processed in accordance with this privacy policy.


Organisations are permitted to process data if they have a legal basis for doing so. Make Mee Studio processes data on the basis that:


Express and informed consent has been given by the person whose data is being processed; and/or Make Mee Studio has a legitimate interest in processing data; and/or it is necessary in relation to a contract or agreement which the person has entered into or because the person has asked for something to be done so they can enter into a contract or agreement; and/or There is a legal obligation on Make Mee Studio to process data.

Where Make Mee Studio is relying on solely consent as the basis for processing data, we are required to obtain your explicit consent and you can modify or withdraw this consent at any time by notifying us in writing, although this may affect the extent to which we are able to provide services to or interact with you in future.


Make Mee Studio may change this policy from time to time and any such changes will be published on our website. Notwithstanding any change to this policy, we will continue to process your personal data in accordance with your rights and our obligations in law.

What data do we collect?

We collect the data necessary for Make Mee Studio to run courses, classes and events, maintaining a student database, keeping our supporters informed of our activities, marketing, and the effective running of Make Mee Studio through its professional staff. Data collected and processed may include, but not be limited to:


 

  • Names, ages and contact information such as telephone numbers and email addresses
  • Physical, Medical and Behavioural conditions that Make Mee Studio would need to be aware of for the purposes of teaching.
  • Such other information that is relevant and necessary for Make Mee Studio to carry out its activities, charitable purposes and legal obligations.

 

What we do with the data we process


Make Mee Studio uses the data collected to maintain accurate internal records of our engagement with students, parents, charities, staff and others. These records facilitate our activities run in accordance with our objectives, including raising awareness about our work through campaigns and events. Data may be processed and viewed, to the extent necessary, by staff, (all of whom work in accordance with this privacy policy) and will be retained only for as long as is reasonable and permissible in law. You, as the data subject, may request deletion of your data at any time in writing, subject to any overriding legal requirement for its retention. You, as data subject, can also unsubscribe at any time from our mailing list.



Your rights in relation to your personal data

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you or your child if under 16. Any such request must be submitted in writing. A small fee may be payable if an information request is particularly onerous.
You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information, but this may inhibit or limit the way in which Make Mee Studio is able to interact with you. You may, at any time, change your mind about what information we hold about you, or if we continue to hold it at all, subject to any legal obligation on Make Mee Studio to retain data, such as the retention of Gift Aid records for His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
You are responsible for the accuracy of data you have provided to Make Mee Studio. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to us as soon as possible. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.
We may use your personal information to send you information about Make Mee Studio and matters relating to Make Mee Studio’s activities which we think may be of interest to you. We will only share data with trusted third parties as stated above, or where necessary for us to communicate with you (such as email campaigns or newsletters) through MailChimp or as stated above, and only once we are satisfied that any such use of data will accord with our privacy policy. We will not sell or share your personal information with any other businesses or marketing companies without your explicit consent.


Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the data we process. Persons processing data on behalf of Make Mee Studio do so in accordance with this policy and on the basis that Make Mee Studio is satisfied that they can and will adhere to our high standards for data protection and security.
The transmission of information over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet. You are responsible for keeping the password you use to login to your electronic devices confidential; we cannot see your password and will
not ask you for your password.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy policy. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy policy applicable to the website in question.

Your consent

This policy serves to inform you of your rights and our obligations in relation to your personal data. In order for us to be able to continue to communicate with you fully in future (using both electronic and non-electronic means).
If you are under 16 years of age, a person legally responsible for you will need to give their consent.

Miscellaneous

General
i) These terms and conditions and any enrolment forms you have signed constitute the entire agreement between you and us in connection with the booking, purchase or use of our products and services and supersede any prior arrangements between you and us
ii) You agree that you have entered into these terms and conditions without reliance on any representation, warranty or undertaking by us which is not expressly set out in these terms and conditions

) Contact
i) We may contact you by phone or email and any notification sent to you will be deemed to have been received within 2 working days
ii) It is your responsibility to ensure that we have the current contact details for you or your child and for all adults authorised by you to collect your child
iii) It is your responsibility to ensure we are aware of any changes in the health or other relevant information about you or your child
c)
Law and jurisdiction
i) Any failure to exercise or enforce our rights or provisions of these terms and conditions shall not constitute a waiver of such rights or provisions
ii) If any provision of these terms and conditions is found by a court of sufficient authority to be invalid or unenforceable the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give the parties intentions as reflected in the provisions and that all other provisions remain intact
iii) Our relation with you is subject to English law and you and we irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.


Covid 19 Updates


We know Covid -19 restrictions have been removed but we do ask politely that you do not attend if you have tested positive for Covid-19, or you have strong suspicion that you might have it (but are unable to take a test.) Your place can be rescheduled. This is to keep other students and our teachers safe. If someone in your household has / or you have been in close contact with someone with Covid -19 but you feel well / have had a negative test we do ask you to be considerate to others and please wear a mask during the class to keep others around you as safe as possible.
