Monthly Make Mee & Mend

Monday 27th February 19.00 - 21.00
Monday 27th March 19.00 - 21.00

We are getting back to what we love the most at Make Mee Studio - saving your clothes from the back of the wardrobe or even worse... the bin!

Our monthly mending sessions will give you 2 hours of help and guidance on how to mend your clothes or textiles items.

Our team of expert sewing facilitators will teach you how patch your holes, hem your trousers, darn your socks, hide a stain. Whatever you bring us, we love a challenge!

  • Very often there will be more than one way to fix something. We can talk about your options and offer visible and invisible mending advice where possible.

We can't promise we will be able to help you fix every problem, but we love giving it a shot!

We will not be teaching you how to make items from scratch in these sessions. Please bring along items that need fixing. You can also try out techniques on fabric scraps before you do them on your item.

  • This course is open to makers of all levels. No previous sewing experience necessary. Simply bring along an item that needs fixing and we'll show you the rest!

  • We have an array of equipment available to help with your repairs. Sewing machines, overlockers, heat press etc.

We will show you how to use any equipment you need for your repair safely but we may not have time to show you in great detail how to thread a machine for example.

We also have A LOT of materials / haberdashery in the studio you can use and purchase from us for your mends. However, if you want something specific for your item like an unusual colour thread, specific fabric or a particular zip we advise you to source it yourself and bring it along.

  • Did you know?

It is estimated that more than 100 billion items of clothing are produced globally every year.

and that 65% of those items end up in landfill within 12 months.

    Shocking stuff!

Join us for Make Mee & Mend to help become part of the solution.
